At the end of the 3rd quarter 2018

Gross debt of the Regional Administration of Madeira stood at 4.879 billion Euros

The gross debt of the Regional Administration of Madeira stood at 4.879 billion Euros at the end of the 3rd quarter 2018, decreasing by 17 million Euros (-0.4%) from the year-ago quarter and increasing by 170 million Euros (+3.6%) from the 2nd quarter of 2018. This quarterly growth in the gross debt is justified by new borrowing (debt rollover) without the corresponding capital repayments which result from debt service (which occurred in the last quarter of 2018), as well from the substitution of commercial debt by financial debt.

The breakdown of the gross debt by financial instrument shows a decrease in the share of loans from 72.7% in the 3rd quarter of 2017 to 68.3% in the reference quarter. This decline was offset by the growth in the percentage of securities which, during the same period, rose from 27.3% to 31.7%.
