Gross debt of the Regional Administration of Madeira stood at 4.613 billion Euros

The gross debt of the Regional Administration of Madeira stood at 4.613 billion Euros at the end of the 1st quarter 2020, decreasing by 50 million Euros (-1.1%) from the 4th quarter of 2019, and declining by 88 million Euros (-1.9%) from the year-ago quarter. It is the lowest value for the gross debt since the end of 4th quarter 2014.

The breakdown of the gross debt by financial instrument shows a decrease in the share of loans from 67.7% in the 1st quarter of 2019 to 60.8% in the reference quarter. This decline was offset by the growth in the percentage of securities which, during the same period, rose from 32.3% to 39.2%.

Net debt stood at 4.366 billion Euros

The net debt of the Regional Administration of Madeira stood at 4.366 billion Euros at the end of the 1st quarter 2020. Compared to the previous quarter, the net debt decreased by 105 million Euros and by 68 million Euros over the year-ago quarter. As in the case of the gross debt it is the lowest value since the 4th quarter 2014.

Debt compiled according to the definition of the Excessive Deficit Procedure (Regulation (CE) 479/2009, of 25 May), i.e., general government consolidated gross debt at nominal or face value (Maastricht debt).

Net debt of deposits corresponds to Gross Debt (Maastricht debt) minus the deposits in resident banks.
