In October 2016, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was -0.7%, 0.1 percentage points below the previous month.
The largest downward pressure on the annual average rate of change occurred in the classes of "Transports" (-6.6%) and "Clothing and footwear" (-1.5%). On the opposite side, "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (+3.5%) and "Communications" (+2.9%) recorded the largest positive changes.
In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.6%, the same as in the previous month.
In October 2016, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region was 0.2% higher than in the previous month.
