12-month Average rate of change of the Consumer Price Index remained at 3.3%
In June 2024, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), the 12-month average rate of change recorded by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 3.3%, the same as in the previous month. The underlying inflation indicator, measured by the total index excluding unprocessed food and energy products, presented a rate of 3.5%, 0.1 percentage points (pp) lower than that observed in the prior month.
Goods recorded a rate of 2.3% and services of 4.5%.
The "Restaurants and Hotels" (7.8%) and "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" (5.9%) classes recorded the highest increases. The "Clothing and Footwear" category (-0.5%) was the only one to register a negative change.
In the country, the CPI recorded a 12-month average rate of change of 2.5%, 0.1 pp lower than that observed in the previous month (2.6%).
In year-on-year terms, comparing June 2024 with the same month in 2023, the price change was 3.5% (2.8% in the country), 0.4 pp lower than the preceding month.
On a monthly basis, the price change in June 2024 was 0.1% (0.3% in the previous month). Nationally, the monthly change was 0.0%, below the 0.2% recorded in the prior month.
In June 2024, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region showed a change of 0.6% compared to the previous month and 7.2% compared to the same month last year.
