12-month average rate of change of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 3.2%

In February 2026, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), the 12-month average change of the CPI was 3.2%, corresponding to a decrease of 0.1 percentage points (pp) compared to the previous month (3.3%).

The underlying inflation indicator, which excludes unprocessed food and energy products, stood at 2.9%, reflecting a decrease of 0.1 pp compared to the preceding month.

Goods prices rose by 2.1%, whilst services recorded a more pronounced increase of +4.4%.

The largest increases were observed in the classes of "Restaurants and hotels" (8.3%), "Health" (4.6%) and "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" (4.1%). In the opposite direction, "Clothing and footwear" recorded the largest negative change (-1.4%).

Nationally, the CPI recorded an average change of 2.3%, remaining unchanged compared to the previous month.

In year-on-year terms, i.e. comparing February 2026 with the same month of 2025, the price change was 2.8% (2.1% nationally), +0.5 pp compared to the previous month. The classes of "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" (0.8 pp), "Transport" and "Restaurants and hotels" (both at 0.5 pp) contributed the most to this rate.

At the monthly level, in February 2026, a price change of 0.8% was recorded (-0.7% in the previous month). Nationally, the CPI change was 0.1% (-0.7% in January 2026).

In February 2026, the average value of housing rents per square metre of floor area in the Region recorded a change of 0.7% compared to the previous month and 7.0% compared to the same month of the previous year (1.0% and 6.7% in the previous month, respectively).
