Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in Madeira was null
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was null, 0.1 percentage points (p.p.) higher than the value recorded in the previous month.
The largest downward pressure on the annual average rate of change occurred in the classes of "Clothing and footwear" (-2.0%) and "Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels " (-1.3%). On the opposite side, the classes of "Communications" (+4.6%) and "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (+3.0%) recorded the largest positive changes.
In Portugal, the value of that rate stood at 0.6%, up by 0.1 p.p. from the previous month.
In January 2016, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region was 0.4% higher than the previous month (null in December 2015).
