The Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) will release on a monthly basis a compilation of economic indicators simultaneously with the information about the Regional Indicator of Economic Activity (RIEA)

From this month onwards, the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) will release a compilation of economic indicators which provides the most recent information about the regional economic activity, in order to monitor its performance.

This compilation will be published simultaneously with the results of the RIEA.

Madeira’s economy maintained trend

The Regional Indicator of Economic Activity (RIEA) indicates that, in the month of December, economic activity maintained the trajectory of the two last periods (acceleration).

It should be highlighted that the regional economy closes the year (2017) with positive growths in all months, thus prolonging the period of economic growth that began in June 2013.

It should be noted that this indicator is a synthesis instrument whose objective is to facilitate the timely monitoring of the regional economy, in particular as regards to direction and magnitude of fluctuations, and does not present itself as a substitute for other official statistics, namely of annual rate of change of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
