[NOTE: Regarding the monthly publication of Tourism data for the year 2021, the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) maintains the model followed in the previous year, releasing an aggregate comprising the hotel sector,  tourism in rural areas and all local accommodation, regardless of the number of beds. In turn, Statistics Portugal (INE),  in its releasing,  excludes local accommodation establishments with less than 10 beds, so in this press release, in “In Focus” (Em Foco) and in the tables published by DREM an overall total higher than that of INE is mentioned, regarding guests and overnight stays. For the variables occupancy rates, bedrooms, income and personnel costs, the values are coincident with those of INE because its calculation excludes the local accommodation below 10 beds.

This press release and its publication already present the final data for 2020. The annual publication is also made available today in excel format, although only partially since the data collection regarding time-share is not yet concluded. It will be made available in its entirety, including the usual result analysis, as soon as that information is available.]
