DREM publishes 40 indicators on the Autonomous Region of Madeira, marking 40 years of European integration
In the context of the celebrations of Europe Day, observed on 9 May, and marking the 40th anniversary of Portugal's accession to the then European Economic Community (EEC), which took place on 1 January 1986, the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) presents a set of 40 socioeconomic indicators that portray the situation of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, comparing the beginning of the European integration period (or the closest year for which information is available) with the most recent available period.
The indicators cover various thematic areas, including demography, education, health, regional accounts, prices, employment, agriculture, transport and tourism, among others, and allow for an understanding of the social and economic transformations that have taken place in the Region between 1986 and the present day.
