Preliminary data of demographic statistics show that in 2014, the Autonomous Region of Madeira registered a negative natural change of 992 persons (-597 in 2013).
In 2014, 1,739 live births to mothers living in RAM were recorded, corresponding to a decrease of 5.4% compared to the previous year (-100 children).
The number of registered deaths in this period (2,731) was higher than in the previous year (2,436).
In the year of reference, eight deaths under 1 year and four dead fetuses were registered.
There were also 753 marriages, down by 40 from 2013.
