The safeguarding and respect for Statistical Confidentiality is a fundamental pillar of the official statistical production.
The privacy of the data providers, whether citizens, enterprises or other entities and the confidentiality of the information they provide and its exclusive use for statistical purposes, are absolutely guaranteed by DREM - as an Statistical Authority - within the framework of the National Statistic System.
The employees of DREM are bound by professional secrecy according to paragraph 2d) of article 6 of the Law No. 22/2008 - the Law of the National Statistical System (NSS) - committing themselves, to ensure total confidentiality in the performance of the tasks they are assigned to.
Violation of professional secrecy is punished with disciplinary or criminal action, in accordance with Articles 32 and 33 of the NSS Law.
