Defaulted loans of non-financial corporations dropped from the previous quarter. Bank deposits and defaulted loans of household grew
According to the data released by the Bank of Portugal, at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2016, the balance of credit granted to non-financial corporations located in the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at €2.084 billion. Despite the drop in the amount of defaulted loans by €8 million to a total of €447 million, the default ratio of this type of corporations increased to 21.5%, remaining 5.0 percentage points (p.p.) above national average.
In the household sector, the balance of credit granted in the end of the reference period amounted to €3.031 billion, with the default ratio on bank loans to households increasing to 6.7% (up by 0.3 p.p. from the previous quarter). In Portugal, the value of this ratio was 5.2%. The defaulted loans of the households residing in the Autonomous Region of Madeira stood at €202 million, up by €7 million from last June.
Deposits and deposit like instruments in the local bank establishments reached a total of €4.9 billion at the end of the 3rd quarter 2016, up by 1.0% from the previous quarter and down by 4.0% from a year before.
