Default ratios of non-financial corporations and households decreased compared to the previous quarter; Deposits and Deposit-Like Instruments dropped

According to the data provided by the Bank of Portugal, the balance of credit granted to non-financial corporations located in the Autonomous Region of Madeira reached €2.6 billion in the end of the 3rd quarter.

The default ratio of this type of corporations stood at 20.3%, 3.8 percentage points (p.p.) higher than in the country.

In the household sector, the balance of credit granted in the end of the reference period amounted to €3.1 billion, with the default ratio on bank loans to households decreasing to 5.8% (0.7 p.p. higher than in Portugal).

The loans in default generated by non-financial corporations amount to €527.2 million, while the households are responsible for €181.0 million.

Compared to  the previous quarter, the number of borrowers in the households of the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased by 0.1% to a total of 102,620.

Deposits and deposit like instruments in the local bank establishments reached a total of €5.1 billion in the end of the 3rd quarter, down by 2.5% year-on-year and down by 2.1% compared to the end of June of 2015.
