In the 4th quarter of 2015

Loans and deposits maintained downward trend; default ratios lower than in the end of 2014

According to the data provided by the Bank of Portugal, the balance of loans granted to non-financial corporations located in the Autonomous Region of Madeira reached €2.3 billion in the end of the 4th quarter of 2015. The default ratio of this type of corporations stood at 20.2%, 4.4 percentage points (p.p.) above the country’s average.

In the end of the reference period, the balance of credit granted in the household sector amounted to €3.1 billion, with the default ratio on bank loans to the Region’s households standing at 5.7% (0.6 p.p. above Portugal).

The loans in default generated by non-financial corporations amounted to €468 million, while the households are responsible for €178 million.

Deposits and deposit like instruments in the local bank establishments reached a total of €4.9 billion in the end of the 4th quarter of 2015, down by 5.9% from a year before and down by 4.4% from the end of September.
