In the year 2023
Weighted annual average daily traffic on the Via Rápida increased by 8.7% compared to the previous year
According to information provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads (DRE), in 2023, the road traffic count increased by 8.5% on the Via Rápida and 12.7% on the Vias Expresso, vis-à-vis 2022. Compared to 2019, the growth was higher, at 16.2% and 25.0%, respectively.
In the concessioned roads, the aforementioned increases compared to 2022 were driven by light traffic (+8.6% on the Via Rápida; +13.2% on the Vias Expresso). For heavy traffic, the change was also positive on the Via Rápida (+3.4%), albeit to a lesser extent. However, there was a 5.3% decrease on the Vias Expresso.
In 2023, the weighted annual average daily traffic recorded, on average, almost 35.8 thousand vehicles on the Via Rápida and 6.8 thousand vehicles on the Vias Expresso, representing increases of +8.7% and +12.7%, respectively. The evolution of light traffic (+8.9% on the Via Rápida; +13.2% on the Vias Expresso) had a decisive impact on that overall change. Due to the limited representation of heavy vehicle traffic (2.3% and 2.1% of the total, respectively), the changes compared to 2022 (+3.2% on the Via Rápida; -4.8% on the Vias Expresso) had little influence on the overall indicator.

Note: The weighted annual average daily traffic corresponds to the number of vehicles that, on average, travel the length of each road every day.
