In the first half of 2025

Weighted annual average daily traffic on the Via Rápida increased by 5.8% compared to the previous year

According to information provided by the Regional Directorate of Roads (Direção Regional de Estradas – DRE), in the first half of 2025, the road traffic count recorded an increase of 5.1% on the Via Rápida and 5.9% on the Vias Expresso, when compared to the same period of 2024. These increases were driven by the growth in light vehicle traffic (+5.1% on the Via Rápida; +5.8% on the Vias Expresso) and heavy vehicle traffic (+4.0% on the Via Rápida; +8.0% on the Vias Expresso).

During this period, the weighted annual average daily traffic amounted, on average, to 38.7 thousand vehicles on the Via Rápida and 7.5 thousand vehicles on the Vias Expresso, reflecting year-on-year increases of 5.8% and 6.9%, respectively. The overall change was mainly driven by the growth of light vehicle traffic (+5.9% on the Via Rápida; +6.9% on the Vias Expresso). Given the relatively low share of heavy vehicles in total traffic — representing only 2.3% and 2.1% on the Via Rápida and Vias Expresso, respectively — the changes observed in this class (+4.6% on the Via Rápida; +9.7% on the Vias Expresso) had a limited impact on the overall change in this indicator.
