Inflation rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was -0.2%
In 2019, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was -0.2%, 2.5 percentage points (p.p.) below the previous year.
The class of "Clothing and footwear" registered the highest negative rate of change (-5.1%), followed by the class of "Communications" (-2.9%). The highest positive changes were observed in the classes of "Alcoholic beverages and manufactured tobacco" (+3.2%) and “Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels”(+0.9%).
In Portugal, the value of the 12-month average rate was +0.3% (+1.0% in 2018).
In 2019, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region increased by 2.9% over the previous year.
