In February 2020, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was -0.4%, decreasing by 0.1 percentage points from the previous month.
The largest negative changes occurred in the classes of the "Clothing and footwear" (-4.4%) and “Communications” (-3.7%). Conversely, the highest positive changes were observed in the classes “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (2.6%) and “Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels " (0.8%).
In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.3%, decreasing by 0.1 percentage points from the previous month.
In February 2020, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region remained the same as in the previous month with the year-on-year rate of change standing at 3.5%.
