In March 2020, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was -0.6%, decreasing by 0.2 percentage points from the previous month.
The largest negative changes occurred in the classes of the "Clothing and footwear" (-4.4%) and “Communications” (-4.1%). Conversely, the highest positive changes were observed in the classes “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (2.3%) and “Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels " (0.8%).
In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.3%, the same as the previous month.
In March 2020, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region was 0.3% higher compared to the previous month and registered a 3.2% growth compared to the same month of last year.
