Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was -1.0%

In July 2020, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was -1.0%, decreasing by 0.2 percentage points from the previous month. This macroeconomic variable dropped for 18-consecutive months until it stabilized in June 2020, to now return to a decreasing trend. It was also the 9-consecutive month in which the CPI 12-month average rate was negative.

The largest negative changes were observed in the "Education” (-4.0%) and "Recreation and culture" (-3.9%) classes. Conversely, the highest positive negative changes occurred in the "Restaurants and Hotels" (+1.6%) and “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” (+1.4%) classes.

In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.1%, the same as in the previous month.

In July 2020, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region was 0.2% higher than the previous month (0,0%), registering a 0.1% growth compared to the same month of last year.
