Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was ‑0.2%
In August 2021, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was -0.2%, increasing by 0.4 percentage points (pp) when compared to the previous month. The underlying inflation indicator, measured by the total index excluding unprocessed food and energy, was -0.7%, up by 0.4 pp over the previous month.
Goods recorded a rate of 0.4% and services of -0.9%.
The largest negative changes were observed in “Education” (-4.9%) and in "Clothing and footwear” (-3.1%) classes. Conversely, the highest positive changes occurred in “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” (+1.6%) and "Health" (+1.2%) classes.
In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.5%, 0.1 pp higher than in the previous month.
In August 2021, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region had a change of +0.1% compared to the previous month and increased by 1.7% over the same month of the previous year.
