Consumer Prices Index 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 2.7%
In April 2022, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in the Autonomous Region of Madeira was 2.7%, increasing by 0.5 percentage points (pp) when compared to the previous month. It should be noted that this indicator has been on an upward trajectory since February 2021 and has been in positive territory since September, reaching in this month the highest value since September 2013.
Goods recorded a rate of 3.4% and services of 1.7%.
The highest positive changes occurred in “Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels” (+3.4%) and "Transports" (+8.8%) classes. Conversely, “Education“ registered the largest negative change (-1.9%) followed by "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” (-0.8%).
In Portugal, the value of that rate was 2.8%, 0.6 pp higher than in the previous month (2.2%).
When comparing April with the same month of 2021, the price change was +6.1% (+7.2% in the country), the highest value since November 2012. Between March and April 2022, the CPI grew +2.6% (+2.2% in the country), decelerating compared to the previous month (+2.9%).
In April 2022, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the Region had a change of +0.3% compared to the previous month and increased by 2.6% over the same month of the previous year.
