12-month average rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a change of +6.2% in the Autonomous Region of Madeira
In September 2023, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the 12-month average rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a change of +6.2% decreasing by 0.3 percentage points (pp) compared to the previous month. The underlying inflation indicator, which excludes unprocessed food and energy products, had a rate of +6.0%, also decreasing by 0.3 pp compared to the previous month.
Goods registered a rate of +7.0%, while services showed a rate of +4.9%. Nationwide, the CPI observed an average change rate of +6.3%, representing a decrease of 0.5 pp compared to the previous month (+6.8%).
Analysing the year-on-year change rate of the CPI in the reference month in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), it reflects the continuation of the previous month's trend, specifically in September 2023, with a slight increase in price growth. In year-on-year terms, comparing September 2023 to the same month in 2022, the price change in the region was +3.9% (+3.6% nationwide), marking an increase of 0.1 pp compared to the previous month. In the country, the year-on-year change rate of the CPI decreased by 0.1 pp.
Furthermore, the change in the CPI from September 2023 compared to the previous month was +0.6% (+1.1% nationwide), representing an increase compared to the previous month of 0.2 pp.
In September 2023, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area in the region showed a change of +0.4% compared to the previous month and +5.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.
