In May 2016 the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month average rate in Madeira was -0.1%, lower than the previous month by 0.1 percentage points (p.p.).
The biggest negative changes occurred in the classes of the "Transports" (-2.2%) and "Clothing and footwear" (-1.9%). On the opposite, "Communications" (+4.3%) and "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" (+ 3.2%) recorded the largest positive changes.
In Portugal, the value of that rate was 0.6%, lower than the value recorded in the previous month by 0.1 p.p ..
In May 2016, the average value of housing rents per square meter of floor area went up by 0.1% over the previous month.
