Number of sessions, spectators, and revenue in the cinemas of the Autonomous Region of Madeira increased
According to provisional data provided by the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), between January and September 2023, there were 10,801 cinema sessions in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM), representing an increase of 9.0% compared to the same period in 2022.
The number of spectators was 176,581, a 52.8% year-on-year increase, while ticket revenue amounted to approximately 991 thousand euros, growing by 61.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Despite the increases compared to 2022, the sessions, spectators, and revenue in the first 9 months of this year were lower than in 2019 by 18.2%, 17.2%, and 9.4%, respectively.
Narrowing the scope of analysis to the third quarter of 2023, it is observed that the number of sessions, spectators, and revenues increased by 9.1%, 70.2%, and 81.3%, respectively, compared to the corresponding period.
