In the 1st quarter of 2017
Official figures show that natural change remains negative. Number of deaths increases compared to the same period of 2016
Preliminary data from demographic statistics show that in the first quarter of 2017, the Autonomous Region of Madeira registered a negative natural change (-215 persons).
The number of live births in this period (466) was smaller than the number of deaths (681). In the same period of 2016, the natural change had been also negative (-257 persons, the result of 454 live births and 711 deaths).
In the first three months of 2017, 2 death under one year was reported.
There were also 148 marriages, up by 9 over the same period of 2016.
