In the 1st half of 2018
Year-on-year increase in the number of deaths worsened the natural decrease of population
Preliminary data of demographic statistics show that in the first half of 2018, the Autonomous Region of Madeira registered a negative natural change (-540 persons), since the number of live births in this period (965) was smaller than the number of deaths (1,505). In the same period of 2017, the natural change had also been negative (-378 persons, the difference between 933 live births and 1,311 deaths).
