DREM marks the Father’s Day with a special publication that answers 10 questions

On the occasion of the Father's Day, the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM) has released a special edition of the publication Demography in Figures: Infographics Inspired by 10 Questions.

This publication aims to provide insights into the demographic trends of the Autonomous Region of Madeira through infographics complemented by concise texts.

The information is derived from two sources, including the Demographic Statistics of Statistics Portugal (INE/DREM, 1995–2023) and the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security – Institute of Informatics (2010–2023).

In this special Father’s Day edition, the publication seeks to answer the following questions:

    2. Is it common for men to father twins?
    3. Is it common for men to become fathers as teenagers?
    4. Is it common for men to become fathers after the age of 54?
    5. Do fathers have children later than they did at the end of the 20th century?
    6. Are there more men of foreign nationality having children?
    7. What is the nationality of foreign fathers?
    8. How many fathers are recipients of the initial parental benefits? And for how long?
    9. What is the relationship between the duration of the father’s and mother’s initial parental leave?
    10. What is the average amount of the initial parental benefit per father?
