In the 1st half of 2015
Official figures show that natural change remained negative, although the number of births increased when compared to the same period of 2014
Provisional data of demographic statistics show that in the first half of 2015, the Autonomous Region of Madeira registered a negative natural change (-447 persons).
The number of live births in this period (927) was smaller than the number of deaths (1,374). In the same period of 2014, the natural change had been also negative (-647 persons, the difference between 833 live births and 1,480 deaths).
In the first six months of 2015, one death under 1 year and five dead fetuses were reported.
There were also 277 marriages, down by four from the same period of 2014.
