Foreign-born population resident in the Autonomous Region of Madeira dropped by 2.3%
Data provided by the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) show that, at the 31st December of 2014, the foreign-born population resident in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 5,697 persons, down by 2.3% from 2013.
The British (14.2%), Brazilian (13.7%) and Venezuelan (9.9%) nationalities constitute the largest communities residing in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.
62.9% of the foreigners are concentrated in Funchal, 14.2% in Santa Cruz, 6.2% in Calheta and 4.4% in Porto Santo. The data breakdown by gender show that the proportions are approximately equal (49.9% males and 50.1% females).
44.0% of the twenty-five long-term residence permits granted in 2014 were to Chinese nationals.
