In the 1st quarter of 2016
Official figures show that natural change remains negative. Number of deaths increases compared to the same period of 2015
Preliminary data from demographic statistics show that in the first quarter of 2016, the Autonomous Region of Madeira registered a negative natural change (-253 persons).
The number of live births in this period (445) was smaller than the number of deaths (698). In the same period of 2015, the natural change had been also negative (-345 persons, the result of 448 live births and 793 deaths).
In the first three months of 2016, 1 death under one year was reported and 2 dead fetuses were registered.
There were also 133 marriages, up by 8 over the same period of 2015.
