In the 1st half of 2016
Official figures show that the natural change remained negative. Number of births decreased when compared to the same period of 2015
Preliminary data of demographic statistics show that in the first half of 2016, the Autonomous Region of Madeira registered a negative natural change (-427 persons), since the number of live births in this period (898) was smaller than the number of deaths (1,325). In the same period of 2015, the natural change had also been negative (-446 persons, the difference between 930 live births and 1,376 deaths).
In the first six months of 2016, one death under 1 year and 2 dead fetuses were reported.
There were also 320 marriages, up by 42 from the same period of 2015.
