Number of building permits and completed buildings increased in the Autonomous Region of Madeira compared to 2017
In 2018, 345 buildings were licensed, up by 103 when compared with the previous year. The number of completed buildings rose by 13.9% to a total of 270. In the case of building permits, the figure for 2018 was the highest since 2012, while the number for completed buildings is a five-year maximum.
61.7% of the licenses of construction and demolition works were for new constructions (213), 88.3% of which were destined for family housing (188). From these constructions resulted the licensing of 278 dwellings, down by 13.9% from 2017.
58.5% of the completed buildings were new constructions for family housing (158). In 2017, the number of completed dwellings in new constructions for family housing stood at 238, increasing by 22.1% over the previous year.
