In the first quarter of 2025
Building permits and completed buildings in the Autonomous Region of Madeira decreased compared to the same period in the previous year
In the first quarter of 2025, a total of 141 buildings were licensed, representing a 12.4% decrease compared to the same period in 2024 (161).
Out of the licensed construction and demolition projects, 76.6% corresponded to new buildings (108), of which 93.5% were intended for residential purposes (101). These projects resulted in the licensing of 338 dwellings in new construction for residential housing, which is a 139.7% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024 (141).
Regarding the completed buildings, there was a 16.7% drop in the refence quarter compared to the same period in the previous year, with a total of 85 completed buildings, of which 64.7% were new constructions for residential housing (55). As for the completed dwellings in new constructions for residential housing (226), the results indicate a 38.7% increase compared to the same quarter in 2024 (163).
