Deliveries by mothers residing in the Autonomous Region of Madeira decreased by 1.9%
1,862 deliveries by mothers residing in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) were carried out in 2019, representing a 1.9% decrease over 2018 (1,898 deliveries). Twenty nine of that total were deliveries of twins. In the year of reference, 76.6% of the deliveries were from mothers aged between 25 and 39 years (38.4% from mothers aged between 30 and 34, 33.5% from mothers aged between 35 and 39 and 28.1% from mothers aged between 25 and 29) . Mothers aged 40 or over years of age were responsible for 8.6% of the deliveries, the highest percentage ever.
