Commercialisation of banana increased 22,5% compared to the same period of 2013

According to the data provided by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development (DRADR), in the first eight months of 2014, 11,652.6 tons of bananas produced in Madeira were commercialised, 2.140,1 tons more than in the same period of 2013. 85.1% of that total was destined for export.

All the categories contributed to this increase, mainly extra (+31.6%), while the commercialisation of banana of the 1st and 2^nd categories grew by +14.3% and +5.2%, respectively.
