Commercialisation of banana decreased by 18.3% year-on-year
According to the data provided by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture (DRA), in the first four months of 2019, the commercialisation of locally produced banana stood at 4,177.1 tonnes, down by 933.3 tonnes from the same period of 2018 (-18.3%). Of that total, 74.3% was dispatched, mainly to Mainland Portugal.
The decline in banana output was shared by all classes: “Extra” (-10.2%), Class I (-20.6%) and Class II (-44.0%).
