In the first four months of 2015
Commercialisation of banana decreased by 10,2%year-on-year
According to the data provided by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development (DRADR), in the first four months of 2015, the commercialisation of locally produced banana stood at 3,747.2 tonnes, down by 427,2 tons from the same period of 2014 (-10,2%). 77.7% of that total was destined for export.
This decline was determined by the decrease in both “Extra” (-16.8%) and Class II (-6.6%). The 10.9% rise in the commercialisation of Class I banana 10.9 was not enough to counterbalance that decrease.
