Commercialisation of banana decreased by 4,3% compared to the same period of 2014

According to the data provided by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture (DRA), in the first eight months of 2015, 11,148.9 tons of bananas produced in Madeira were commercialised, down by 503.7 tons when compared to the same period of 2014. 84.1% of that total was destined for export.

Class II (-6.6%) and extra (-6.0%) of the product contributed to this decrease, while the commercialisation of class I banana grew by 3.9%. 62.0% of the total of commercialised banana belonged to the Extra class.

The year-on-year change rate of the 2nd quadrimester was -1.0% (-10.2% in the previous quadrimester).
