In 2015
Commercialisation of banana decreased 2.6% compared to the previous year
According to the data provided by the Regional Directorate of Agriculture (DRA), 17,693.5 tonnes of bananas produced in Madeira were commercialised in 2015 (down by 476,8 tonnes from 2014, i.e. -2.6%).
Of that total, 85.0% was destined for export (86.1% in 2014).
The overall decrease was determined by the drop in the commercialisation of classes extra and II, by 3.7% and 3.3% respectively. The 1.6% growth in the commercialisation of class I banana was insufficient to offset the aforementioned decreases.
