Egg production and poultry meat decreased while landed catch and livestock slaughterings increased

In 2016, the egg production stood at 22.1 million units, decreasing by 7.1% from 2015. A similar trend was noted in the production of poultry meat which totaled 3,545.1 tonnes in 2016, down by 11.2% from 2015.

In 2016, the weight of the slaughtered livestock increased by 6.9% from the year before.

Concerning fisheries, the data on landed catch show an increase in volume by 2.2% and a 1.3% decrease in first sale receipts compared to 2015.

The increase in volume was mainly driven by the catch of blue jack mackerel (+40.5% in volume). Tuna and tuna-like species was the most abundant species during 2016, despite the decrease in the landed catch by 1.4%. The first sale receipts increased by 5.9%.

The first sale average price of the landed catch was EUR 2.68 (EUR 2.77 in 2015).
