Landed catch increased year-on-year; aviculture and livestock slaughtering decreased
In the first six months of 2017 the egg production stood at 11.8 million units, decreasing by 1.3% year-on-year.
In the same period, the poultry meat totalled 1,635.0 tonnes, decreasing by 14.2% compared to the same period of 2016.
Between January and June 2017, the weight of the slaughtered livestock went down by 2.1% year-on-year, reaching 383.5 tonnes.
The data on landed catch show a 20.9% growth in volume in the first six months of 2017 and a 25.0% increase in first sale receipts, compared to the same period of last year.
This growth was mainly driven by the increase in the catch of tuna and tuna-like species (+37.8% in volume and +33.6% in first sale receipts). The catch of black scabbardfish increased by 26.0% year-on year, while the first sale receipts generated by this species grew by 14.0%.
