Aviculture, livestock slaughterings and fisheries increased
In 2019, the egg production has topped 19.0 million units, increasing by 4.2% from 2018. A similar trend was noted in the production of poultry meat which totalled 3,157.4 tonnes in 2019, up by 1.2% from 2018.
The weight of the slaughtered livestock increased by 4.5% from the year before, to a total of 998.4 tonnes.
Concerning fisheries, compared to 2018, the data on landed catch show increases in volume and in first sale receipts by 6.7% and 17.8%, respectively. The landed catch stood at 8.0 thousand tonnes, while the receipts reached 22.1 million euros. This means that the landed catch was the highest since 2005, while the receipts reached an all-time record.
The increase in volume was mainly driven by the catch of tuna and tuna-like species (+9.6% in volume and +48.3% in the first sales receipts), and in fact this species was the most abundant during 2019.
The first sale average price of the landed catch was EUR 2.78 (EUR 2.51 in 2018).
