Overall waste production in Madeira reached 157.4 thousand tons
According to the estimates provided by the Regional Directorate of Land Use Planning and Environment, the 2013 global production of solid waste in Madeira reached 157.4 thousand tons, 17.7 thousand tons less than in the previous year.
The waste deposited in the solid waste treatment plant decreased by 7.8% (dropping from 114.7 in 2012 to 105.8 thousand tons in 2013). The waste destined for recycling outside the region also declined 5.1% (30.8 thousand tons in 2012 and 29.2 thousand tons in 2013).
