Commercialisation of “Madeira” Wine increased by 16.2% in volume and 14.1% in value compared to the year-ago quarter
According to data provided by the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft Institute, P.I., the commercialisation of “Madeira” wine stood at 878,787 litres, generating first sale receipts of 4.9 million euros. When compared with the corresponding period of 2017, the quantities sold increased by 16.2% and sales value by 14.1%.
For the January to June period, the sales volume and receipts increased by 15.4% and 10.9% year-on-year.
It should be highlighted that in the first six months of 2018 there was an increase in the exports for Sweden (+94.9% in volume and +112.7% in value), while the “Madeira” wine commercialised to Netherlands decreased by 32.5% in volume and by 39.1% in value. Exports to France also rose by 34.9% in volume and by 33.2% in receipts.
