Trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries was positive
According to preliminary data, the Region’s trade balance of goods with foreign countries stood at +1.5 million Euros in the first nine months of 2017, representing a coverage rate of imports by exports of 101.6%. In the same period of last year, the balance between exports and imports was negative (-30.2 million Euros) with the coverage rate reaching 68.9%.

In the first nine months of 2017, exports totaled 97.9 million Euros, 76.2% of which destined for Third Countries (i.e. outside the EU), while imports reached 96.4 million Euros, 85.4% of which coming from the EU.
DREM releases an update of the time series on International Trade Statistics (1976-2016)
Following the release of the publication "International Trade Statistics/2016 - Provisional Results", last October 11, DREM updated the time series on International Trade Statistics.
Although this series contains data from 1976 to 2016, the figures are more detailed for the period from 1993 onwards. A summary table with the main results for 1976-1992, which includes information about the trade with the rest of the country, i.e. Mainland Portugal and the Azores, is also available.
Besides the breakdown by intra and extra-EU trade, the data is available according to:
- Economic areas and main countries;
- Product group;
- Section and chapter of the Combined Nomenclature (CN);
- Classification of Broad Economic Categories (BEC);
- Classification of Products by Activity (CPA);
- Classification of Economic Activities (CAE)
