Trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries was positive
According to preliminary data for 2017, the Region’s trade balance of goods with foreign countries stood at +4.1 million Euros, representing a coverage rate of imports by exports of 103.1%. In 2016, according to provisory data, the balance between exports and imports was negative (-34.0 million Euros) with the coverage rate reaching 73.8%.

In 2017, exports totaled 136.3 million Euros (95.5 million Euros compared with the previous year), 77.7% of which destined for Third Countries (i.e. outside the EU), while imports reached 132.2 million Euros (129.4 million Euros in the previous year), 86.2% of which coming from the EU.
