In the 1st quarter 2020
Trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries was positive, standing at 33.7 million euros
The Regional Directorate releases today the preliminary data for the 1st quarter 2020 concerning the trade in goods of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries. It should be highlighted that from the month of February 2020 onwards, the United Kingdom is already considered a Third Country. For comparison purposes, in the analyses vis-à-vis the same period of the previous year, the United Kingdom is also considered as a Third Country in this period.
According to preliminary data, the Region’s trade balance on goods with foreign countries stood at 33.7 million Euros in the 1st quarter of 2020, representing a coverage rate of imports by exports of 207.7%. In the same period of last year, the balance between exports and imports was 45.4 million Euros and the coverage rate reached 234.6%.

In the first three months of 2020, exports totalled 64.9 million Euros, (51.7% destined for Countries inside the EU), while imports reached 31.3 million Euros, 76.6% of which coming from the EU. Exports went down 17.9% year-on-year, while imports dropped by 7.2%.
New data for 2018 and 2019 are now available
Final data for 2018 and revised data for 2019 concerning international trade are also released today.
