Trade balance of the Autonomous Region of Madeira with foreign countries was positive, standing at 26.7 million euros
According to preliminary data, in the 1st half of 2021, the Region’s trade balance on goods with foreign countries stood at 26.7 million euros, lower than in the same period of the previous year (55.9 million euros). This translates to a coverage rate of imports by exports of 132.9%, lower than that recorded in the first six months of 2020, which stood at 164.1%.
In the first six months of 2021, exports of companies headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira totalled 108.1 million Euros, having decreased 24.5% compared to the first half of 2020, while imports reached 81.3 million euros, falling 6.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. 58.3% of the majority of outgoing goods were destined for Third Countries (i.e. outside the EU) while regarding imports, the European Union countries continued to predominate (82.1%).
