In the first nine months of 2023
Foreign Trade Balance of the Region showed a positive surplus of 40.5 million euros
According to preliminary data for the first nine months of 2023, the Region´s trade balance on goods with foreign countries recorded a surplus of 40.5 million euros exceeding that of the same period in the previous year (6.4 million euros). This results in a trade coverage rate of 119.3%, which is higher than the 102.4% recorded during the first nine months of 2022.

In the specified period, the total exports from companies headquartered in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARM) amounted to 250.6 million euros, representing a 6.5% decrease compared to the first nine months of 2022, while Import figures stood at approximately 210.1 million euros, which was 19.7% lower than the same period in the preceding year. From January to September 2023, the majority of exported goods were destined for third countries, accounting for 66.4% of the total, while imports were predominantly from European Union countries, making up 75.4%.
